Variate Labs Interactive Facade

April 2011
by Miles Kemp and Justin Lui

An interactive video façade was developed for creative agency Variate Labs in Los Angeles, when Justin Lui worked there. Existing street-facing windows were re-occupied with video projections running several types of content, including live Twitter streams, company project descriptions, and seasonal messages.

Content was organized to fit the existing two-story arrangement of windows, and was designed for two different scales; a more intimate scale at the sidewalk, and a larger more distant scale at the upper story. Multiple interaction modes would be available, including a flip-book mode where users could swipe between pages of content.
